Not long after touching down in Armenia, the Kardashian sisters (minus Kourtney) are taking the country by storm.
“The Mother Armenia statue symbolizes peace through strength,” wrote Khloé, 30, in the caption of an Instagram photo commemorating the occasion.
“It can remind viewers of some of the prominent female figures in Armenian history,” she added, “who took up arms to help their husbands in their clashes with Turkish troops and Kurdish irregulars. I am woman hear me roar! Blessed to be here!!!”
Construction of the statue began in 1950 alongside of a statue of Communist dictator Joseph Stalin. Following his death, his statue was removed, and the Mother Armenia statue was put in his place in 1967. Including its enormous pedestal, the statue stands at nearly 168 ft. high. Inside the pedestal is a museum/exhibition space.
The Kardashian sisters, who are of proud Armenian descent on their late father Robert Kardashian’s side, arrived in the country late on Wednesday to an enthusiastic throng of greeters and well-wishers. Kim was joined by husband Kanye West and daughter North.
“My husband and daughter came to Armenia as well to see my heritage and learn about my ancestors!” Kim, 34, captioned a photo of her husband and daughter. “My cousins came along too!”
The family affair is being documented not just on social media but by Keeping Up with the Kardashians cameras.
