Steely Nan! The Former FLOTUS Stands Up for Her Man in Killing Reagan Sneak Peek
Cynthia Nixon portrays Nancy Reagan in National Geographic's Killing Reagan
Anything for her Ronnie.
FLOTUS Nancy Reagan, played by Sex and the City alum Cynthia Nixon, supports the President (Tim Matheson) as he records a message, but when his effectiveness as the Commander in Chief gets called into question she can’t stand idly by.
Ronald’s advisor Jim informs him that his approval ratings have dipped, explaining, “Democrats have been pretty successful at hammering away at you.”
The President takes the news in stride, walking off in the White House’s hallowed halls while Nancy hangs back.
“Jim, if you want the best out of him you’re going about it the wrong way,” she says calmly. “You’re tearing him down. Send him where you want, to whoever you want. You can even tell him exactly what it is you need him to say. But don’t tell him that he’s failing.”

The movie, which is based on the book by Bill O’Reilly, will chart Reagan’s entire presidency, in addition to the shooting by John Hinckley, Jr., and follows the network’s wildly popular adaptations of Killing Lincoln, Killing Kennedy and Killing Jesus.
“With this fourth installment of the highly successful Killing franchise, we are, along with our partners, Bill O’Reilly and Scott Free Productions, going to use the assassination attempt as a crucible to tell the fascinating and compelling story of Ronald Reagan and his lasting impact on the global stage,” network executive vice president and head of global scripted development and production Carolyn Bernstein said in a release earlier this year. “We’re delighted to have Tim and Cynthia on board to bring this story to life during an unpredictable and historic election year.”
Killin Reagan premieres Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on the National Geographic Channel.
