Khloé Kardashian Says Lamar Odom Is Her 'Soulmate' – but 'Things Change'
During a live appearance on Good Morning America Wednesday, Kardashian, 31, opened up about their relationship and how Odom is doing following his recent release from the hospital.
“He is doing really well. He is finally out of the hospital,” Kardashian said. “He is doing great – but you know, it’s a long journey and it’s something that he’s working really hard on and every day is different. We take every day as it comes. I’ve learned not to really look into the future too much, I try to live every day as it comes and 2016 is a good year. My talk show is coming out and we’re leaving all the hospital stuff in 2015.”
A source told PEOPLE last week that Odom, 36, was planning to move from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to live in a rehabilitation center. On Friday, the former NBA star was photographed being driven around Los Angeles, marking the first time he has been seen out of the hospital.
On Wednesday, Kardashian admitted she does still believe she and Odom are soulmates – a sentiment she’s expressed before– but that “right now, that’s not even where my head is at.”
“I’m more [coming] from a friend standpoint, I genuinely love him and want him to be happy and healthy and all of that, like I would any of my family members or loved ones,” Kardashian said. “People, they don’t understand the severity of everything knowing or thinking that Lamar was my soulmate before any of this happened – but yeah, things change and life gets in the way, and that’s okay.”
Kardashian also said that right now, Odom’s health and happiness and her happiness, which are “two individual things,” are what’s important.
As for whether Odom, who has battled substance abuse, will stay on track after his health scare, Kardashian said she hopes so but can’t know for sure.
“I don’t know, again, I cannot look into the future,” she said. “I’m doing one day at a time and I’m happy living one day at a time.”
