Entertainment TV Khloé Kardashian Jokes She's 'Part of Polygamy Now' on 'Ellen' : 'I Have a Husband, I Have a Boyfriend' Khloe Kardashian explains her situation with Lamar Odom and boyfriend James Harden By Aurelie Corinthios Published on November 13, 2015 02:05 PM Share Tweet Pin Email Khloé Kardashian is staying positive in the face of a difficult time. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star sat down with Ellen DeGeneres for an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show set to air Monday, in which she discusses her estranged husband Lamar Odom‘s current health situation as he remains hospitalized and also makes light of the complex dynamic between Odom, her boyfriend James Harden and her. Of her decision to call off their nearly finalized divorce, Kardashian, 31, told DeGeneres she did it in order to support the former NBA star as he recovers. “I’m there helping him, and I love him and I’ve always loved him and that will never change, and I just feel like it’s a really insensitive thing to fast-forward a divorce,” Kardashian says. “I love him and I always will and he’s a fantastic person who deserves support and love and for someone to be by his side, and for me, I’m that to him,” she adds. “And thank God I have a fantastic family who loves me and loves him just as much, and they’re so supportive and they’re with me and I have a great boyfriend who’s understanding.” Kardashian also mentions she has a “great boyfriend who’s understanding,” in reference to Harden, 26, the Houston Rockets shooting guard she has been dating since this summer. “You know, it’s definitely a very unique situation, to say the least,” Kardashian says of how Harden is handling things. “He’s fine with it. I mean, we have to communicate a lot. And he’s really supportive and great. I think the press and everything, they make it more complicated. I think inside our circle we know exactly what’s going on and I feel sometimes it’s crazy that I – yes we live so much of our life in public, but that I have to explain every step when that’s kind of frustrating.” Kardashian, who has spent much of her time by Odom’s side as he recovers, went on to joke that she’s just going to start saying she’s “part of polygamy” now: “I have a husband. I have a boyfriend. That’s a way easier thing to say. Right?” “Okay, if that’s what you want me to call you I will – no, but I think that’s many husbands, isn’t it? So you’re not really a polygamist,” DeGeneres says. “Oh, I’m not there yet,” Kardashian replies with a laugh. Kardashian, who is currently promoting her new book Strong Looks Better Naked, also gave an update on Odom’s current health as he continues to recover at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after being found unconscious at a Nevada brothel a month ago. “This was pre-planned forever, me having my book, and this was always my press time, so it’s really awkward to be promoting a book but you know, my heart and mind are in the hospital with somebody else,” Kardashian explains. “But yes, he went into a coma. He was in a coma for three days, he’s out of it. The power of prayer to everybody, we’re so thankful. … The prayers and everything have helped so much and been so positive.” Kardashian added that the former basketball star, 36, is “off of all machines that help his organs but still he has such a long way to go.” “He’s learning how to walk again and feed himself again and put sentences together,” she says. “And cognitively there’s a lot – it’s a long, long road ahead.” As for whether he is able to talk, Kardashian says yes, but that his abilities vary on a day-to-day basis. “So, today was a really… He couldn’t put a lot of words together today,” she says. “But he understands.” The reality star also explained that they are not able to tell Odom exactly how his hospitalization occurred since that would impair his recovery. “Well I can’t tell him – we tell him he had a brain injury, I can’t tell him how that brain injury was caused because that would set him back,” Kardashian says, adding that Odom also “doesn’t ask” why he’s in the hospital. “He’s really confused a lot, we have to remind him. Every day is different, sometimes he knows who the president is or his birthday, and then other times he thinks he’s 26, and I said, ‘I bet you wish you were 26, so do I!’ ” Kardashian says with a laugh. Kardashian also noted that while the strokes Odom suffered affected some of his emotions as well as other parts of the brain, “he is able to smile and laugh at appropriate times” – in fact, just the other day, she walked in on him laughing while watching Ellen.
