The Real Housewives of Atlanta‘s Kenya Moore is speaking out about the intense brawl with costar Porsha Williams during a reunion taping that aired Sunday night on Bravo.

“There are many inflammatory statements made by cast members to and about each other particularly during the reunion tapings,” Moore tells PEOPLE in a statement. “Many have made untrue, denigrating, disparaging, and inflammatory statements against me in an attempt to provoke me, but I have never reacted in a violent way.”

Moore, who was using a bullhorn to address Williams during the taping, accused her of cheating on her ex-husband. Then Williams pulled Moore’s hair and the two women fell to the floor.

“If people get so angry that they lose control and admittedly ‘black out’ and resort to violence, those persons must be held responsible for their actions,” Moore says in the statement.

She also says that she’d been a victim of abuse in the past.

“After being repeatedly attacked by an abusive boyfriend at the age of 17, if someone puts their hands on me, I will not just let it go,” she says. “With that said, I sought self-defense training developed for the Israeli military. I’ve also been trained in weapons. I can take someone down in three moves. It took discipline for me to not respond in kind.”

After the incident, Moore called 911 and reported it to the police. After an arrest warrant was issued, Williams turned herself in on April 17 and is being charged with battery. “Although the claim is unfounded, Ms. Williams is fully cooperating with investigators and looks forward to clearing her name,” her attorney said at the time.

“The authorities will decide her fate, not me,” Moore says.

Host Andy Cohen asked Williams to leave the taping after the incident. Bravo will air part two of the reunion without Williams on April 27 (8 p.m. ET).
