Kelly Ripa was the first to admit she’s relieved this week is over.

On Friday’s Live! With Kelly and Michael, both she and co-host Michael Strahan excitedly welcomed the weekend, with Strahan saying at the top of the show: “We made it.”

“Guys, we made it!” Ripa echoed as the crowd cheered. “Calm down, we got through it. It’s the weekend! Oh, I love the weekend.”

It’s little surprise the co-hosts are ready for a few days off after Strahan, 44, abruptly announced on April 19 that he is leaving Live! to pursue a more permanent role at Good Morning America, where he’s been appearing part-time for the last few years. PEOPLE later exclusively broke the news that Strahan’s last day will be May 13.

The move blindsided Ripa, 45, who took off two days from Live! before a scheduled vacation to celebrate her 20th anniversary with husband Mark Consuelos.

A source told PEOPLE on Tuesday, “Kelly was glad to be getting the drama behind her” when she returned to work after a tense, weeklong absence.

On that day, she opened the show with a five-minute address to the fans: “What transpired over the course of a few days has been extraordinary. In a sense that it started a greater conversation about communication, consideration and, most importantly, respect in workplace,” she said.

And to Strahan: “This is a tremendous opportunity, and I couldn’t be – and we couldn’t be – more proud of you and everything we’ve accomplished together.”

Live! With Kelly and Michael airs weekdays (check local listings).
