Kelly Ripa has been through a lot of change lately, but one constant is her sense of humor.

During a segment on Live Tuesday morning, Ripa was talking with guest co-host Joel McHale about her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame when he asked, “Is it weird to think people are walking on top of you right now?”

Ripa, as always, didn’t miss a beat: “No. I’ve gotten used to that.”

The audience – and even Ripa herself – couldn’t help but laugh less than a month after Ripa’s former co-host Michael Strahan departed under strained circumstances when Strahan, 44, blindsided Ripa, 45, with the news that he would be departing the show after four years for a full-time hosting gig at Good Morning America.

Ultimately, Ripa used Strahan’s move as an opportunity to start a larger conversation about respect and communication in the workplace.

And she remained in good spirits on Tuesday, telling her audience (which had grown quiet due to the semi-awkward moment): “It’s okay, we can laugh.”

Live with Kelly airs weekdays (check local listings).
