Keith Hefner, Hugh Hefner's 'Dear Brother and Best Friend,' Dies at 87
Keith Hefner was a longtime executive at Playboy and also appeared on E!'s Girls Next Door
Keith Hefner, the younger brother of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, died on Friday at his home in Beverly Hills at the age of 87.
Hugh confirmed the news on Twitter, sharing a photo of the pair and writing, “This morning, my dear brother and best friend passed away. I love you, Keith. Rest in peace.”
Keith had been ill for some time. According to TMZ, who was the first to report the news, he had been battling cancer.
Keith’s passing comes one day before Hugh’s 90th birthday.
The younger Hefner brother was a longtime executive at Playboy, handling the training of Playboy Bunnies as well as model recruiting.
Keith was often featured on E!’s popular reality show chronicling Hugh’s life at the Playboy Mansion, The Girls Next Door, which ran from 2005 to 2010 starring Kendra Wilkinson, Holly Madison, and Bridget Marquardt.
He also did some acting, making appearances on TV shows such as Get Smart, as well as a few movies.
On Friday morning, Wilkinson took to Twitter to mourn Keith’s death.
“Just heard the news about Keith Hefner. He was such an awesome guy. I will miss him. #RIPKeith,” she wrote.
He was married to model Caya Hefner, whose Twitter account features several pictures of the two.
“You’ve given me so much love and support!! I’m forever grateful,” she tweeted March 21. “Love you Keith..”
She also tweeted about Keith always having a “good sense of humor” on Monday, sharing a selfie of the two cuddling in bed.
On Thursday, Caya tweeted a picture of her, Keith and Hef at the Playboy Mansion.
“Love this pic of us. A brother in law & a husband that I genuinely love and care very much! #grateful #tbt,” she wrote.
