This week’s Lip Sync Battle is going to be a spicy one.
In a preview of the upcoming showdown between Salt-N-Pepa, Sandra “Pepa” Denton struts around the stage to Katy Perry’s “Firework.”
Denton looks extra fierce in a black minidress and impressively tall stilettos. She works the stage in a high-powered rendition of the hit pop song in an effort to out-lip-synch Cheryl “Salt” James.
Denton and James formed Salt-N-Pepa, one of the first ever all-female rap groups, in the mid-’80s. The duo, along with Deidra Roper (a.k.a. DJ Spinderella), are responsible for the timeless “Push It” and “Let’s Talk About Sex,” and they won a Grammy Award for “None of Your Business” in 1995.
Although Salt-N-Pepa broke up in 2002, they reunited in 2007 and recently announced that Denton and James are currently developing a cooking show together. Perhaps this lip-synching showdown is mere preparation for a battle of the culinary variety.
