If you haven’t watched the season premiere of House of Cards, or seen Tuesday night’s appearance by Kate Mara on the Late Show with David Letterman, stop reading this right now.

Seriously, stop reading.

Mara dropped by The Late Show to speak about the second season of the Netflix series, and made a few oblique references to (SPOILER ALERT) her character’s demise in the first episode.

“I am so happy to be alive and sitting here right now. I’m glad I took a car and not the subway to your show,” she said.

The audience’s reaction leads us to believe that not everyone at the taping was immediately aware of what Mara was talking about, but Letterman clearly was.
