Kate Hudson Backpacks Through Italy – and Eats Ants – with Adventurer Bear Grylls (PHOTOS)

The actress joined the adventurer on an Italian excursion for the new season of Running Wild with Bear Grylls

Kate Hudson is not in Hollywood anymore.

The 36-year-old actress was photographed climbing high with adventurer Bear Grylls in Italy, looking victorious as she smiled and pumped her arms in the mountainous terrain in snapshots from Running Wild with Bear Grylls.

Hudson and the Man vs. Wild alum, 41, spent 48 hours in the Italian Dolomites, a mountain range located in northeastern Italy, to kick off Season 2 of the NBC series, in which Grylls takes a star-studded list of celebrities on one-on-one adventures.

In a promo interview with the Almost Famous star posted Wednesday, she says, “When I was younger I would camp more and sort of rest in the outdoors, so to speak this will be interesting.”

She may be used to Hollywood glam, but Hudson – who loves to stay active – is not afraid of roughin’ it.

“You do actually work in the elements when you’re on set and it’s actually really fun. I think it’s kind of addictive,” she says of working on films in less-than-glamorous locales. “I always like being pushed and challenged.”

But her knees might get a little shaky if spelunking is involved, she says.

“The only thing I’m nervous about – and I know Bear likes to push people – I see him do a lot of caves and stuff. I see him do things where he goes into small spaces and things. I’m not a big fan of small spaces. My fear is that maybe I’ll have an anxiety attack or something.”

Hudson can be seen rock-climbing, sporting a large backpack while trudging through snow and ice and – gulp – eating ants in a trailer for the new season. (“Mmm,” she says in the clip!)
