Kanye West Feels 'Helpless' After Kim Kardashian West Feared 'She Was Going to be Raped' During Armed Robbery

When Kanye West got the call that his wife, Kim Kardashian West had been robbed at gunpoint, his first impulse was to rush to be with her.

The robbery started a rollercoaster of emotions – not only for Kardashian, but for West, as well.

“Kanye says that it has been one of the hardest days of his life, that he feels helpless,” a source close to the rapper tells PEOPLE. “This is a guy who isn’t used to feeling helpless at all. He’s usually in control. And now he realizes that he could have lost her, and there wasn’t a thing he could do about it.”

West, 39, is furious at the incident – and wishes he could crack the case. “Kanye is ready to fly over there and take care of it himself,” says the source. “He wants to find the men who did this to his wife. But he knows that the best place for him to be right now is with Kim. She needs him now. He won’t leave her.”

The Terrifying Ordeal

Kardashian West, 35, had just FaceTimed with her brother and his fiancée, Blac Chyna, before five armed and masked men entered her apartment at Paris’ No Address Hotel around 3 a.m. local time. They bound her hands and feet before making off with $10 million in jewelry.

Kardashian West is now processing her terrifying ordeal. “She just bursts into tears every few minutes,” says the source. “She needs to be with someone all the time; she doesn’t want to be alone.”

The source says that West “is furious. He feels like she was terrorized. It’s not just that she was robbed; it’s that she was put into a position where she begged for her life, thought she was going to be raped. She was brutalized and manhandled.”

The source says that West is coming up with plans to keep it from happening again. “He’s already talking about getting more security, not only for Kim but for the kids,” says the source. “He’s really spooked by the whole thing, because he knows that they are targets now.”
