Entertainment TV Justin Bieber's Mom Reveals the One Thing She Would Mock Him For Plus, Martha Stewart says she has better things to do with eggs than throw them By Amanda Michelle Steiner Published on March 15, 2015 02:10 PM Share Tweet Pin Email Photo: Gregg DeGuire/WireImage Mother knows best. In (a belated) honor of his 21st birthday, Justin Bieber was mercilessly roasted by the likes of Hannibal Buress, Pete Davidson, Ludacris and even Martha Stewart with host Kevin Hart at the helm. Bieber’s mother, Patti Mallette, knew before the festivities kicked off in Los Angeles on Saturday that they would proceed exactly as they did. Asked by reporters on the red carpet at what point it was decided that this was a “good idea,” Mallette said, “I personally don’t think that this is. I personally think, as a mom, that no mom wants to see their kid get roasted, so I don’t love the idea of a roast.” Ever the supportive mother, however, Mallette went on to say that Bieber was excited about the roast and so she came around to the idea because she loves him. “I’m going to be a good sport,” she told reporters. “It is what it is. I know what I’m coming into; we know what we’re expecting, so it’s all good.” If Mallette could make fun of her son for one thing, it would be for his saggy pants. “I think that’s about the extent of it for me, obviously, [because] moms want to be encouraging to their kids, but definitely. Pull up those pants!” “It’s always tough to watch anybody that you care about go through any sort of scrutiny in public,” said Malette of the bad press Bieber received throughout much of 2014 thanks to his less-than-stellar behavior. “I think it’s a tough thing to grow up under the world’s judging eyes, and everybody goes through their stages, everybody learns differently, everybody looks at things differently and I’m proud of him,” she said, adding that “he’s making a lot of great choices lately.” When your son is a multimillionaire, it can be hard to rein him in; however, as Mallette revealed, there are “creative” things you can do, “like taking phones away.” (Surely a dire punishment for the selfie-loving Bieber.) As for her son’s Calvin Klein ads, she “still can’t believe that my son is the Calvin Klein model. It’s crazy to me! I really don’t have an opinion either way, I’m just kind of in shock.” Still, though, she does admit that her son is “a handsome feller.” Finally, Mallette wasn’t the only mom on the red carpet with an opinion about Bieber’s antics. When guest Martha Stewart was asked about reports what she would take Bieber to task about, she was focused on food. “I have many better things to do with eggs than throw them at some house, for God’s sake!” • Reporting by REAGAN ALEXANDER
