RHONY's Jules Wainstein Calls Police on Husband Michael Following Divorce News: 'She Genuinely Did Not Feel Safe,' Says Source
Jules and Michael Wainstein are splitting "over his infidelity," a rep for Jules told PEOPLE
On Thursday morning, Real Housewives of New York City star called the police to their Manhattan apartment, a source close to the couple confirms to PEOPLE.
“She was in an environment in which she genuinely did not feel safe,” the source says.
A rep for Jules had no comment regarding the incident, but in photos obtained by The Daily Mail, an officer can be seen exiting the apartment holding a written statement which claims Michael was threatening Jules, saying he was going to ruin her life. Michael was then escorted into a car with son Jagger, 8.
Another source tells PEOPLE Jules is doing well despite the circumstances.
“She’s actually okay. I think it’s a relief to her to proceed with the divorce,” says the insider. “I think she’s relieved to be starting her life over. It’s been a very hard.”
Of the split, which a rep for Jules told PEOPLE earlier Thursday was “over his infidelity,” the source says Jules “has known for a while that the was having an affair” but that watching this season of RHONY has raised more questions.
“Now, watching the episodes back, things are coming to light,” says the source. “She’s seeing where this all started.”
Despite the divorce, the source says Jules’ first priority priority right now is “to maintain her privacy and a normal life for her kids.”
Earlier Thursday, a rep for Jules told PEOPLE “Jules is doing great despite the news.”
“She is taking care of her children and working hard on her brand, Modern Alkeme,” said the rep. “She is a survivor and has many people around her for support.”

Jules, 35, and Michael, an investment banker, have been married for eight years and share two children together: son Jagger and daughter Rio, 5.
On Wednesday’s episode of the hit Bravo show, signs of their troubled marriage emerged: Jules complained about how Michael took care of the kids, taking issue with the fact that he put them to bed in their school uniforms and left their daughter wearing a dirty diaper all night.
Jules also called attention to some of Michael’s behavior on the show, such as the fact that he regularly went home to shower before meeting her somewhere and was always on his phone.
“I think Jules was totally shocked by what happened and was very disappointed and it’s sad,” said Singer, 59. “It’s just very sad.”
The Real Housewives of New York City airs Wednesdays (9 p.m. ET) on Bravo.
