Though the fallout of several scandals surrounding Josh Duggar last year have been covered on his family’s TLC show, Counting On, the oldest Duggar will not be appearing on the show next season.

A network source tells PEOPLE exclusively that this is “absolutely untrue.”

Josh returned home in March from a faith-based rehab after a seven-month stay with the program, which features many members of his famously large family including his wife Anna and sisters Jill (Duggar) Dillard, Jessa (Duggar) Seewald.

And though he won’t appear on Counting On in any formal capacity, Josh is taking steps toward a more public life nearly a year since his second scandal of 2015. In May, he was photographed selling used cars back home in Arkansas.

And on Tuesday, a close friend of the Duggars shared a photo on Instagram that featured a few family members including Josh and Anna, both 28, clad in cow-print garb outside a Chick-fil-a in Arkansas.

Following Josh’s homecoming, he and Anna shared a statement on the Duggar family website saying that they have been “working with a professional marriage and family counselor to take important steps toward healing.”

The reality star checked into the facility in Rockford, Illinois, in August following a series of scandals, including his public confession of being addicted to pornography and to being unfaithful to his wife.

“It isn’t easy and some days are very difficult. It is a long road to rebuild trust and a truly healthy relationship,” they wrote in May. “As the future unfolds, we are taking one day at a time and we are grateful for your continued prayers for both of us and our sweet children.”

Counting On returns to TLC this summer.
