Josh Duggar is thanking his dad publicly for the first time since news of the Duggar family’s molestation scandal broke in May.

In a video made for Father’s Day and posted with other family tributes to the Duggar patriarch Jim Bob on the family’s website, the 19 Kids and Counting star thanks his dad, 49, for helping him “through the hard times.”

Says Josh, 27, “And I can just also think of all the moments where you’ve been there for us through the hard times and through the good times. I know that your investment in each one of our lives is priceless, and we’re so grateful for you.”

Josh’s wife, Anna, who stands beside him throughout the video, then adds, “Thank you for raising such an awesome husband.”

It’s been a week of firsts for the Duggars. On Saturday, his sisters Jill Dillard and Jessa Seewald, – two of five underage girls he allegedly molested in 2006 when he was a teenager – made their first public appearance at the ALIVE Christian Music Festival to talk faith, marriage and children.

While the sisters never directly addressed the scandal, Jill did say that one of the messages of their show is that their family has struggles.

“Hey, we’re not a perfect family, we mess up,” she told the crowd during a Q&A-style session on the festival’s Beach stage. “Imagine what life is like with a family with two or three kids, and multiply that about 10 times over, and that’s what you get.”

It was the first time Jill, 24, or Jessa, 22, have appeared in public since they addressed the scandal in an interview with Fox News on June 3.

Josh, meanwhile, made his first public gesture since the scandal when he took to Instagram last Tuesday to post a birthday message for his 4-year-old son, Michael James.
