Keeping up with the Kardashians' Jonathan Cheban Tries Reindeer Meat in Iceland
The Food God has spoken.
“Guys, this is your Food God and you see what I do for you?” Cheban said in a Snapchat video as he sat in front of a plate of meat. “I’m trying reindeer to let you know what it tastes like. I’m freaked out about it.”
In a series of stories on Snapchat, Cheban documented the moments just before, during and after he tried the meat. He even posted a photo of the restaurant’s menu with the caption: “Food God taste testing.”
“My whole brand is food and being the Food God,” Cheban tells PEOPLE exclusively. “Millions of people from around the world come to my social media to see where the hottest places to eat are and what to eat there. When I’m in another country, such as Iceland, I will absolutely try a traditional dish and let people know how it was.”
And try he did. The reality star documented his “first bite of reindeer” in one snap and quipped, “Was Bambi a reindeer? This is what the Food God does for you people.”
Verdict? “The Food God has spoken. And I give an A-plus for reindeer. This thing is unbelievable. So, if you see a reindeer get it.”
He added: “By the way, I love reindeer. I’m not eating horse, but if I ever see a reindeer, then it’s mine.”
Despite his vow, Cheban indulged his adventurous palate with horse meat during the Iceland trip.
“Eating horse [in Iceland] is the same as eating beef in the U.S., and I respect their traditions,” Cheban tells PEOPLE. “But as the Food God it’s a must-try and let people know. I was too full to try the whale – another traditional dish here!”
Cheban, 42, also documented Kourtney Kardashian’s 37th birthday festivities, posting a series of videos on the app.
In one video, a fur-clad Kardashian West, 35, presented her older sister with a candle-covered birthday cake.
“Birthday cake number 5,” Cheban was heard declaring in one snap.
