After more than three decades away from the small screen, John Travolta will star in FX’s American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson.
The actor, 60, will play defense attorney Robert Shapiro and serve as a producer on the 10-part miniseries, airing later this year.
Before his big-screen success, Travolta booked his star-making role as Vinny Barbarino on the ABC sitcom Welcome, Back Kotter from 1975 79.
Travolta joins previously announced cast members Cuba Gooding Jr., 47, Sarah Paulson, 40, and David Schwimmer, 48, in portraying the O.J. Simpson trial from the lawyers’ perspective. The series will be based on Jeffrey Toobin’s book The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson.
American Crime Story, from American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy, is set to begin production in Los Angeles early this year.
