While Teresa Giudice is in prison, Joe Giudice has had to take on some of her usual responsibilities.

Do we smell a Dance Moms spinoff?

In an interview with E! News, Joe Giudice jokes that, while wife Teresa is in prison, he’s had to take on some of her usual responsibilities.

“I’m like the mom – I’m like the cheer mom,” he says. And he’s definitely enjoying his new role: “It’s exciting watching the cheer because they’re doing a lot of flips and all this other stuff.”

If the Real Housewives of New Jersey husband is surprised by how fun becoming the “cheer mom” was, though, it’s nothing compared to the sticker shock he received in the process.

“I’ve always been a father, I’ve always done everything, it’s just that Teresa did all the driving around, running around, paying for everything and doing all this and doing all that,” says Giudice, 43. “I never knew how many expenses there are just in the activities.

“Everything’s expensive … but I enjoy it. It’s fun watching them and they did really good,” he says of daughters Gia, 14, Gabriella, 11, Milania, 9, and Audriana, 6.

Teresa and Joe were sentenced to 15 months and 41 months in prison in October 2014, respectively, after pleading guilty to mail, wire and bankruptcy fraud the previous March. Teresa began her sentence on Jan. 5, and Joe will head to prison for his own sentence after she is freed.

In an interview with the Today show that aired Wednesday, Giudice admitted that he takes the blame for his wife’s prison sentence, saying, “I was supposed to go away, not her. That was part of the plea, or I thought anyway.”

Giudice’s life at home with his four daughters was chronicled in a three-part reality special that will premiere Sunday. In a recent preview of the spinoff, The Real Housewives of New Jersey: Teresa Checks In, eldest daughter Gia makes an emotional call to her mom in prison.

The full interview with Giudice airs Thursday (7 p.m. ET) on E! News, and The Real Housewives of New Jersey: Teresa Checks In premieres Sunday (8 p.m. ET) on Bravo.
