Jimmy Fallon‘s going to recover from his July accident – with or without you.

But one person he can count on? Bono, who was one of the earliest responders after the Tonight Show host, 40, fell in his home in July and nearly lost a finger. (The U2 frontman had his own semi-catastrophic accident earlier this year.)

“Bono was one of the first emails,” Fallon told Billboard.

“He said, ‘Welcome to the club, my Irish brother,’ ” Fallon continued. “And [The] Edge sent me a thing. He fell too [from a stage, in May]! I mean, it’s insane. I go, ‘Why are we all falling? What the hell is wrong with us?’ ”

Fallon will require another surgery on his injured finger before the year’s out and told Ellen DeGeneres he won’t be fully healed until 2016, but he’s pushing forward with his characteristic optimism.

“It’s a bummer,” he admitted, “but you can’t get depressed.”
