Take One Direction. Add Jimmy Fallon, the Roots, a bunch of classroom-grade musical instruments, some ugly Christmas sweaters and a beloved Christmas pop song.

What do you get?

The video that’s going to be taking over your day, that’s what.

One Direction has had a busy week at NBC Studios. The world-beating boy band was Saturday’s musical guest on Saturday Night Live, while on Monday they visited Jimmy Fallon at The Tonight Show. (If anyone knows where NBC has One Direction locked up, please rescue them.)

Fallon dressed the boys in seasonally appropriate ugly Christmas sweaters, crammed them into a a room with the Roots and supplied everyone with toy instruments for a rendition of the classic “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town.” (Hear Fallon’s 12-year-old Michael Jackson impression during the back half of the tune.)

The boys sound great, and it’s once again proof that the Roots are the hardest-working band in late night.

But please, for everyone’s sake: Burn those sweaters.
