The Duggars Are Back: TLC Reveals a First Look at Jill and Jessa's Upcoming Series, Counting On
The two sisters are returning to reality TV with a series of specials for TLC
The Duggars are one step closer to returning to the small screen.
TLC gave a one-minute sneak peek at Jill (Duggar) Dillard and Jessa (Duggar) Seewald‘s upcoming series of specials for the network, marking the sisters’ first real return to reality television since brother Josh Duggar admitted to molesting underage girls when he was a teenager.
The sneak peek of the series, titled Jill & Jessa: Counting On, showed the two sisters discussing the aftermath of Josh’s scandal.
“The whole world was shocked,” Jill said. “You’re angry and hurt and all those emotions all mixed together.”
However, both Jill and Jessa explained that they are excited to move forward with their new series of specials.
“We’re excited for what the future holds,” Jill said.
The sisters had previously appeared in a TLC documentary, Breaking the Silence, which focused on sexual abuse. However, their new special series will be the pair’s first time being back on TV in a series following their daily lives.
TLC and the Duggar family announced the new specials back in September.
“We appreciate all the prayers for our family. God has drawn us closer to Him and to each other this summer,” the Duggars wrote on their official Facebook page to announce the news. “We are grateful that the new TLC specials set to air this fall will be sharing special moments with Jill, Derick and Israel on the foreign mission field and following Ben and Jessa as they prepare for the arrival of their first baby!”
Nancy Daniels, TLC’s executive vice president and general manager, previously said the series would focus on Jessa preparing for the birth of her first child and Jill preparing for her missionary trip to El Salvador with her husband Derick and young son, Israel.
The network canceled 19 Kids and Counting in July shortly after Josh admitted to molesting underage girls. In August, Josh checked himself into a faith-based rehab center after admitting that he had cheated on his wife, Anna, and was addicted to pornography.
Counting On will premiere on TLC in December.
