Jill Dillard: Why New Mom's C-Section Won't Keep Her from Having 'as Many Kids as God Will Bless Me with'
The 19 Kids and Counting star hopes to deliver her future children without surgery
After a 70-hour delivery and surprise C-section, Jill and Derick Dillard open up about their firstborn’s arrival. Subscribe now for Jill and Derick’s exclusive interview – and to see photos of their son Israel David – only in PEOPLE!
While Jill had initially hoped for a natural birth at her home in Rogers, Arkansas, the second-oldest daughter born into the Christian Duggar family is confident that her dreams of delivering her own big family won’t change following the unexpected surgery.
“We told the doctor, ‘Stitch me up really well,’ ” says Jill. (Doctors can sometimes advise against vaginal births after a C-section.)
But in her case, the 23-year-old says, “The doctor told me he has no doubt I’ll be able to have a vaginal delivery the next time.”

Even though the birth may not have gone exactly as planned, the pair wouldn’t change a thing about welcoming their firstborn son.
“She had labored for so long. There’s no shame in that, there’s no shame in not progressing, there’s no shame in getting a C-section,” says husband Derick.
“It was confirmation for us that God was leading us,” says Jill. “We were grateful for God showing us what to do in time.”
