The couple, who welcomed their first child Nov. 5, would like to adopt in the future, though they may have to wait a bit.
“We would love it if our next baby is adopted,” Jessa, 23, tells PEOPLE in this week’s cover story.

But the first-time mom explains that the adoption agencies they’ve contacted do not allow parents to adopt when they have an infant, so they may have to wait at least another year.
For now, Jessa and Ben, 20, are enjoying time with their newborn son, who weighed in at 9 lbs. 11 oz. and measured 21.5 in. when he was born at their home in Springdale, Arkansas.
“When I was in labor, I told Ben, ‘Babe, we are not having any more kids after this,’ ” Jessa says, with a laugh. “I was teasing – we will have more kids. But in that moment of pain, I believed it!”
