Apparently celebrity fans aren’t always sure who they’re freaking out over.

While guest hosting Live with Kelly on Tuesday, Jerry O’Connell admitted to Kelly Ripa that fans often mistake him for Jason Bateman, 47.

“I’m very good friends with Jason and we text each other – we have an ongoing joke. Like, I’ll text him, ‘Hey, listen, the TSA lady at JFK [Airport] really liked Arrested Development,’ ” O’Connell says. “Then he’ll say, ‘Hey, there’s a garbage guy on on Seventh Avenue who loves PEOPLE’s List on Saturday nights.’ “

Ripa, 45, congratulated O’Connell, 42, on his new gig, where he and co-host Suchin Pak discuss five newsworthy individuals you need to know that week, from celebrities to everyday people.

“It’s like the magazine and ABC married and made an hour of entertainment that everyone has to watch,” the actor said.

The series, which will run during the summer, gives viewers a rundown of what to know about recent trending topics as well as a look at what’s ahead.

“It’s one-stop shopping for all things pop culture, celebrity and human interest,” executive producer Danielle Rossen said. “It’s what you’ll be talking about with your friends all weekend.”

“This series joins together two of the most trusted media brands in the world – ABC News and PEOPLE. Partnering on this series gives us the opportunity to present the PEOPLE brand to audiences in exciting new ways,” said Rich Battista, EVP, Time Inc. and President, Entertainment & Sports Group and Video.
