Poor Hawkeye: he’s not exactly the superstar of the Marvel comic universe. And Jeremy Renner is clearly tired of his superhero not being considered as super as his fellow Avengers – Iron Man, the Hulk and Captain America.

So Renner sought to set the record straight on The Tonight Show on Tuesday night, singing a song in character as the Avengers: Age of Ultron archer.

“There’s one guy on the Avengers who sometimes gets overlooked; he’s still great but it’s hard to compete with those other guys,” said Jimmy Fallon, introducing the musical number. “So here now to shed light on his own strengths and abilities, to the tune of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud,’ is Hawkeye.”

And as he sat down at the piano, Renner certainly showed off one hidden superpower – some solid vocal abilities.

“When you’re on a team with the Hulk and Thor and we’re all up there on the movie screen; will people believe that I’m not quite as tough, will anyone even notice me,” he sang.

“Listen, I’ve got powers too and they’re pretty sweet,” he added. “I promise I can do so much more than just archery.”

Then he listed some of Hawkeye’s strengths – “When I bowl I always score at least 70” – and admitted a couple of disappointments – “I haven’t lost my virginity” – but he concluded with “Maybe I’m as super as they are.”
