The American Idol panel has been known for having a fair share of drama in the past. But now, the current judges couldn’t be more of a happy family.

They even finish each other’s sentences.

During a recent break from filming the audition process for season 14 of the FOX reality singing competition, panelists Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. couldn’t wait to tell PEOPLE how much they enjoy working together.

“Look, if we had to B.S. and pretend we were friends, we would do it because that is part of what our job is,” Connick said before Lopez jumped in to finish his thought.

” But we don’t have to!” the Latin beauty said with a smile.

Even their exhausting shooting schedule can’t break the trio apart.

“We can spend 11 or 12 hours a day together – day after day after day,” says Urban. “Tempers can flare when you get in those conditions, but I get along so well with [Harry and Jennifer]. I still look forward to seeing them. You can’t say that about the people you work with all the time.”

“My single favorite part of doing this job is sitting next to Jen and Keith,” adds Connick. “It’s a good feeling.”

The new season of American Idol premieres Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 8 p.m. on FOX.
