Goodbye, Sue Sylvester. Hello … angel?

Glee is not over yet, but Jane Lynch has already booked her next role.

The 54-year-old actress has been cast as a brassy and larger-than-life guardian angel named Amy in Angel from Hell, a new CBS comedy pilot in the works for this fall.

If ordered to series, the comedy will follow Amy as she enters the life of a woman named Allison and claims to be her guardian angel. The two form an unlikely friendship, though Allison can’t be sure if Amy is an angel – or just nuts.

CBS has yet to cast the role of Allison.

Lynch has already completed production on the final season of Glee. She told PEOPLE there were lots of “waterworks” on the final day of shooting.

“There are some takes I’m sure they can’t use because we were all weeping,” she said. “It was hard to get through.”

Glee airs Fridays (9 p.m. ET) on Fox. The series finale is set for March 20.
