It’s the biggest night in the competition so far as the top 12 American Idol contestants take it to the big stage and the guys and girls perform for the first time on the same night. They’ve made it this far but clinching the title is still a long ways away. And for contestants on the cusp (Chikezie, Kristy Lee Cook), the dream of making it big in the entertainment industry really is still just a dream. Let’s face it, of all the top 12 contestants in the previous six seasons (12 X 6 = 72) minus the winners and the runners up (72 – 12 = 60), there are only a handful — Chris Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson, Kellie Pickler — whose names you still hear about. The rest have become trivia questions only the most devoted Idol fans can answer.

But for some of the contestants performing tonight (Carly Smithson, David Archuleta, Brooke White, Michael Johns), Tuesday night’s top 12 show may be another step toward super stardom.

Tell us: Whose performance are you most looking forward to? And who really needs to blow the judges away to stay in the game?
