The How to Get Away with Murder finale was just as shocking and riveting as you think you remember it being Thursday night. But don’t worry. If your head is still reeling and you’ve been unable to process the last few minutes, here’s a recap of our five most we-can’t-believe-it moments: 1. Wes Ties Rebecca Up.Wes (Alfred Enoch) and Laurel (Karla Souza) begin to suspect that Rebecca (Katie Findlay) may have been involved with Lila’s murder. Wes, Laurel, Connor (Jack Falahee) and Michaela (Aja Naomi King) tie up Rebecca and have Annalise (Viola Davis) come over to Wes’s to interrogate their witness. “They’ve all lost their minds. That’s the only thing I know for sure right now,” Annalise tells Rebecca before she removes the tape from her mouth. Rebecca tells Annalise that she agrees to not scream – but she lies. She screams “help” at the first chance she gets. Rebecca is moved to Annalise’s home, where Annalise convinces the rest to untie their suspect. Unable to reach a verdict on her own, Annalise calls for an unofficial trial to determine if Rebecca is guilty. Each of the law students – save for Wes – present their cases to prove Rebecca killed Lila but none of them provide enough evidence to convince Annalise that Rebecca is guilty. Eventually, Rebecca admits she was with Lila after she died but then escapes from Annalise’s basement. 2. Michaela’s Engagement Ring Is Returned.Though she thought she lost it in the woods while disposing of Sam’s body, Michaela is reunited with her pricey engagement ring. After being invited by Michaela to a bar for a girl’s night out, Laurel arrives and presents her classmate with the ring. Laurel explains that she found the ring in Connor’s car the night of the incident but had kept it as insurance that Michaela would not go to the police. 3. Connor’s Boyfriend Receives a Surprising Diagnosis.Connor is asked to get tested for STDs by his boyfriend Oliver (Conrad Ricamora) because Oliver is fearful Connor may have contracted a disease during his promiscuous activity. After the couple is tested, Connor is paranoid about his results – but he isn’t the one who needed to be concerned. Although he first told Connor he was told he was HIV negative, Oliver ultimately reveals he is the one who has contracted an STD. 4. Lila’s Killer Is RevealedIn a flashback, Frank (Charlie Weber) is seen strangling Lila to death – but Annalise’s husband Sam (Tom Verica) is still to blame for the murder! Yes, Frank was the one to do the deed but he only killed the sorority girl because he was asked to to commit the crime by Sam as repayment. But repayment for what, exactly? 5. Rebecca Is Found…Dead. In the last few moments of the finale, we learn Rebecca has been murdered and stashed in a hidden corner of Annalise’s basement. Both Frank and Annalise know of the crime but neither claims to know who committed it. Looks like season 2 can’t come soon enough because WE NEED ANSWERS!
