"That was it! That was it, and then you booked the job," Ashley Tisdale says to Vanessa after watching her tape

If you missed Wednesday’s High School Musicalspecial reunion telecast, we’ve got you covered with an absolute must-see: The stars watching their very first audition tapes for the hit franchise.

In the clip, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman flash back 11 years to their predictably hilarious auditions.

Tisdale and Grabeel were up first, and the group squealed with laughter watching Tisdale serving up some serious Sharpay attitude.

“Do you remember – we ran through this scene and this girl gives me notes!” Grabeel, 31, said with a laugh of onscreen sister.

“I embraced the character!” responded Tisdale, 30.

Coleman, 35, and Bleu, 26, also got to watch their younger selves auditioning, with Coleman joking about their similar hairstyles: “I was worried they weren’t going to cast me because I look just like him!”

But the highlight of the tapes was probably watching a teenage Hudgens adorably run lines with her on-screen love Zac Efron. (Troy and Gabriella shippers, you may need a minute after this one.)

“Remember in kindergarten, how you’d meet a kid and know absolutely nothing about them and then 10 seconds later, you’re playing like you’re best friends because you didn’t have to be anything but yourself?” Hudgens, now 27, says dreamily in the tape. “Singing with you felt like that.”

“You’re so sweet and beautiful and perfect!” Coleman gushed to Hudgens after they watched the clip.

“That was it! That was it, and then you booked the job,” Tisdale added.

While Efron, 28, couldn’t make the reunion in person, he sent a message to his fans and his former costars via video: “Hey guys, I’m so sorry that I couldn’t be there in person but I’m with you all in spirit. My favorite scene in the movie has to be ‘We’re All in This Together.’ The unity, the whole cast in that moment was just really, really fun.”

“I’ll never forget that day,” he added. “It’s embedded in my mind as one of the most beautiful days of my entire life.”
