Hawkeye Series Starring Jeremy Renner in the Works at Disney+
The series based around the Avengers marksman will focus on his relationship with young trainee Kate Bishop
Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye is getting his own show on the Disney+ streaming service, but he won’t be going it alone.
Marvel and Disney aren’t ready to discuss the project yet, but sources tell EW it is now in development along with a show pairing Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes (a.k.a. The Winter Soldier) and Anthony Jackie’s high-flying Falcon, and another focused on the trio of Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, and Paul Bettany’s The Vision.
The shows are expected to have a limited run of six to eight episodes, according to Variety, which first broke the Hawkeye news.
Renner first expressed interest in the concept three years ago, well before plans for Disney+, which launches later this year.
He was often asked if Hawkeye would get a stand-alone movie, but Renner said he was open to a series.
“I think that’s actually a really great model, if there’s ever a way to explore the character, maybe it’s in that world,” Renner said at Silicon Valley Comic Con in March 2016.
“These are things that are really not in my control, but I’d be open to it. I’ve really enjoyed getting to explore the character more recently,” he continued. “The Netflix model is where all the character drama goes to now, you’re doing a superhero movie or a Netflix or HBO kind of model. So I’d be open to it. Not up to me, though.”
