Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson are bringing the heat to Hairspray Live!

The two powerhouse vocalists, who are both starring in NBC’s holiday musical event, will be joining forces and ending the telecastwith a special duet.

Grande and Hudson, who respectively play Penny and Motormouth Maybelle, will sing “Come So Far (Got So Far to Go),” which was originally sung by Queen Latifah‘s Maybelle in the 2007 film.

Based on the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, Hairspray Live! takes place in 1962 Baltimore and follows the story of Tracy Turnblad (newcomer Maddie Baillio), whose dream to dance on The Corny Collins Show ends up revolutionizing TV and changing her life.

Harvey Fierstein, who wrote the teleplay, will reprise his tour de force performance as brassy mama Edna Turnblad.

“We are beyond thrilled with this incredibly talented duo of stars for Hairspray Live!” NBC entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt previously said. “Harvey Fierstein created the role of Edna Turnblad on Broadway in an indelible Tony-winning performance that demanded to be memorialized on film, and we’re happy he wanted to step into her shoes one last, unforgettable time. We’re also so grateful that the incomparable Jennifer Hudson will play Motormouth Maybelle and we know her rendition of ‘I Know Where I’ve Been’ will literally stop the show.”

The cast will also include Kristin Chenoweth (Velma Von Tussle), Martin Short (Wilbur Turnblad), Derek Hough (Corny Collins), Sean Hayes (Mr. Pinkie) and Rosie O’Donnell.

Hairspray Live! will air Dec. 7 on NBC.
