McDreamy, McSteamy and the gang: they’re back!

How many different reasons are there to be excited about tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy season four premiere (ABC, 9 p.m. ET)?

The romantic ups and downs between Mer and Der, a.k.a. Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek (Patrick Dempsey), continue. Especially with Meredith’s half-sis, Lexie (Chyler Leigh), a.k.a. “the other girl from the bar,” joining the Seattle Grace staff as an intern.

Isaiah Washington as Burke is out, but T.R. Knight‘s George does return after failing his exams in last season’s finale. Unfortunately, he’s returning as an intern. Again. And he’s still in the middle of his adulterous triangle with Izzie and Callie. Now that Cristina (Sandra Oh) is sans Burke, she returns to her old saucy self, meaning her intern, Lexie, better have tough skin.

More McSteamy! Mark Sloan (Eric Dane) coming out of the shower in a towel in Addison’s hotel room is still one of the highlights of last season, and GA creator Shonda Rhimes has promised that Dane’s getting more screen time to prove his McSteaminess this year.

Tonight’s episode is action-packed, as the Seattle Grace-ers have to deal with the fallout from a three-car accident, an injured deer and a man who’s so severely injured that his head is barely still attached to his body! –Kimberly Potts
