'Fox & Friends' Supercut Highlights Male Co-Hosts Repeatedly Commenting on Gretchen Carlson's Appearance

Carlson filed a sexual harassment suit against Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes on Wednesday

In the wake of the news that Gretchen Carlson has filed a sexual harassment suit against Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes, a spotlight is being cast on the network and its anchors.

On Thursday, Bloomberg Politics released a supercut of footage from Carlson’s time co-hosting Fox & Friends that highlights her male co-hosts repeatedly commenting on her appearance, gender and clothing.

“Gorgeous, gorgeous! Look at her today. Beautiful dress. You look wonderful,” Eric Bolling says at one point, while Brian Kilmeade is shown talking about whether the show is too hot before saying: “But Gretchen is really too hot. Blame her!”

The co-hosts go on to call attention to Carlson’s skirts over the span of several different cuts, and during a discussion about bras, Kilmeade says: “Bra stories, defer to the babe.”

The video also features Kilmeade and Steve Doocy addressing Fox News contributor Laura Ingraham, asking her whether she prefers a female or male masseuse.

“Laura, now you know what I go through,” Carlson says.

In another scene, Carlson turns to Kilmeade and asks him if he would like to correct himself about a point he made earlier about men being dominant.

“Oh, we don’t have any time,” Kilmeade replies.

“Okay, ’cause HR is on the phone because you called me a skirt,” Carlson says, to which Kilmeade quips he has to “read that manual again.”

“I’ll bring it to your office right after the show,” Carlson offers.

During another discussion, Kilmeade makes reference to a previous guest being “the only sexist person that came on here that made [Carlson] laugh.”

“Other than sitting next to you every day?” Carlson replies.

“But I’m having fun with it!” says Kilmeade.

“You’re a jest sexist,” Carlson says.

“Yes! I jest that I’m sexist,” Kilmeade replies.

Another relevant clip which isn’t featured in Bloomberg’s supercut is footage of Carlson walking off set in 2012 in response to one of Kilmeade’s comments.

“Women are everywhere. We’re letting them play golf and tennis now, it’s out of control,” he says as Carlson gets up and walks off.

“You know what? You read the headlines since men are so great,” she can be heard saying. “Go ahead, take ’em away! Take ’em away! In all your glory, go for it.”

“She needed a shower anyway,” Kilmeade says before going on to read the headlines.

In her lawsuit, Carlson, 50, alleges that Ailes, 76, “sabotaged her career because she refused sexual advances and complained about severe and pervasive sexual harassment,” according to the filing obtained by PEOPLE.

Doocy, 59, while not a named defendant, is also under fire in the lawsuit. Carlson alleges he “regularly treat[ed] her in a sexist and condescending way” and “engaged in a pattern and practice of severe and pervasive sexual harassment” that was tantamount to treating her as “a blond female prop.”

On Wednesday, Ailes responded to the suit: “Gretchen Carlson’s allegations are false,” he said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.

“This is a retaliatory suit for the network’s decision not to renew her contract, which was due to the fact that her disappointingly low ratings were dragging down the afternoon lineup. When Fox News did not commence any negotiations to renew her contract, Ms. Carlson became aware that her career with the network was likely over and conveniently began to pursue a lawsuit.”

On Thursday, Carlson’s legal team fired back, releasing a statement disputing Ailes’ response.

“Ailes’ claim that Gretchen Carlson was terminated because of bad ratings is demonstrably false,” reads the statement, which goes on to refer to publicly available ratings that confirm Carlson’s total viewership was up at the time of her termination.

Continues the statement: “Regarding Ailes’ claims that Gretchen’s allegations are false, we challenge him to deny, under oath, that he made the statements attributed to him in the Complaint.”

Carlson took to Twitter Thursday afternoon to issue a series of tweets thanking her supporters.
