Last week, Grace VanderWaal became the second female act to winAmerica’s Got Talent in 11 seasons – but according to her, she’s just a regular 12-year-old kid.

So what does the tiny, ukulele-strumming singing sensation from Suffern, New York, like to do in her free time?

“Whenever people ask me this, I kind of realize how bland I am!” VanderWaal tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue. “I like to read. I like to hang out with my sister. I like to ride my bike a lot.”

“I like to bike to my friends’ houses and they always tell me how crazy I am to bike to their houses,” she continues. “That’s really about it!”

And her friends have been “really low-key” about her sudden AGT stardom, she says.

“All of them after a performance are like: ‘You did great!’ and then they go back to normal,” she says. “I really appreciate that.”

Now VanderWaal, who just signed a record contract at Sony Music’s Columbia Records, is considering homeschooling with parents David and Tina to pursue her singing career.

“It has been really crazy and really hectic but it’s all been super-duper positive,” says VanderWaal of her whirlwind week. “I get recognized a lot and it feels amazing every single time!”
