Entertainment TV It's Official! Grace Gealey Shows Off Engagement Ring from 'Empire' Costar Trai Byers The actress confirmed the happy news on Wednesday's episode of FABLife By Aurelie Corinthios Published on October 7, 2015 03:00 PM Share Tweet Pin Email These Empire actors have something to sing about. Grace Gealey has confirmed her engagement to her costar Trai Byers. PEOPLE learned of Byers popping the question in late July, but the two kept mum about their relationship until Gealey discussed the happy news during Wednesday’s episode of FABLife, hosted by Tyra Banks and Chrissy Teigen. During a conversation about dating coworkers on the new daytime talk show, Gealey said she has nothing against getting involved romantically in the workplace if it’s done in the right way. “I think that if two people are mature and they’re able to understand that if this doesn t work out – cause first, I’m not a fan of flings when you work, cause that’s where it gets a little dangerous,” said Gealey, 31. “I think that if you do get involved – I keep wanting to say on set – I think that if you do get involved at your workplace you have to know that this is something that you want to be invested in, and this is just not just something that is frivolous and fleeting. “[You have] to have the maturity to say that if this doesn’t work out, you’re not going to you know, throw staplers,” Gealey continued. When Banks mentioned Gealey’s own romantic relationship with Byers on the set of the hit Fox show, Gealey beamed and lifted up her hand to show off the ring. “For real, for real. Not a fling,” she said as she waved around the sparkly rock while the audience cheered and clapped. “You’re engaged?” Banks said. “I’m engaged,” Gealey confirmed. “Have you told anybody this?” Banks asked. “I just did!” Gealey responded. Dating rumors surrounding Gealey and Byers, 32, circulated for months before Byers popped the question. The two actors have starred on the smash series since its first season aired earlier this year. She plays Anika, who was engaged to his character Andre’s dad Lucious (Terrence Howard) before getting with his younger brother Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray). Empire airs Wednesday (9 p.m. ET) on Fox.
