Attention Gossip Girl fans! The CW plans on testing a possible spin-off series of the drama-fest in an episode to air later this season.

After scrapping The Graysons, an origin story of Batman’s sidekick Robin, the CW is looking for a new hit show with Gossip Girl-like buzz and the rumored spin-off could be it.

An upcoming episode may double as a backdoor pilot, gauging audience interest for the spin-off, insiders tell Variety.

ABC’s Private Practice, which centers on Kate Walsh‘s Addison Montgomery, started the same way after a special episode of Grey’s Anatomy that sent the doctor to L.A. to visit an old college friend.

Gossip Girl is based on a popular teen book series that already has a spinoff of its own — The It Girl, following the story of Jenny Humphrey (played by Taylor Momsen), who leaves New York’s Upper East Side to start some trouble at boarding school. The CW spinoff, though, will not focus on Little J, Variety reports, but will follow one of the other regular characters. — Emmet Sullivan
