Seems like keeping up with the cool kids has Little J in over her head. After spending spring break with her new BFFs, Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen) is back to her Upper East Side stamping grounds. But it seems the new queen bee is hanging on by the threads of her knock-off coat.

When It girls Hazel, Penelope and Co. decide to throw J a 15th birthday party at the famed Socialista, Jenny knows she can’t afford a new dress so she does the unthinkable: She “borrows” from Hazel’s mom’s designer closet and trades a one-of-a-kind Valentino gown for a Dolce & Gabbana sparkler at a second-hand store. But when Jenny learns the police were called, she freaks and tries to return the D&G for the red-hot number — only to have an $8,000 difference stand in her way. In a bold move, Jenny steals the dress back, wearing it out of the shop.

Meanwhile, eager to retake her throne after being stood up at Butter, Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) decides to help Mr. Humphrey throw Jenny a birthday party. But when Jenny shows up with the Valentino under her coat and all the girls yell “surprise,” she’s literally caught red-handed. Point for Blair.

Once they realize the party in Brooklyn is a snooze, Blair says, “This feels private,” excuses herself and leads the crew to Butter. Her victory is short-lived, though, when Jenny returns with Blair’s ex Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford) on her arm. Point for Jenny. But the real question is: Why is Nate so ready to help out Jenny?

Favorite Fashion Moment: Jenny trading a Valentino for the same sparkly Dolce & Gabbana dress that Hilary Duff wore to 2007’s Grammy Awards. If Little J wants to be a part of the cool crowd she needs to learn the value of couture. –Andrea DeSimone
