From the Upper East side to Yale’s New England campus, the setting might have changed, but the players are the same. Blair Waldrof (Leighton Meester) and Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) are officially enemies. So determined to out shine her new nemesis, Serena surprises Blair at Yale where she charms the Dean of Admission with tales of fashion shows and Page Six photo opts. Meanwhile, Blair’s lifelong dream is in jeopardy as she messes up her interview and proceeds to kiss the Dean! But in true form, Blair reverts back to her standard method of success — bribery! — and scores an invite to the Dean’s exclusive party. A stunned Serena decides to steal Blair’s answer to the Dean’s question, but Blair throws her for a loop when she changes Serena’s answer and brings up the dead kid.

Theirs is not the only lifelong friendship that finds itself in jeopardy on the Yale campus. Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford) and Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) start their college weekend off on a quest to find Yale’s secret society. The society finds Chuck first and with Nate’s dad’s legal issue’s causing New England’s finest to lose their trust fund, the society orders Chuck to deliver Archibald. Chuck gives them an unsuspecting Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley) instead. Nate takes a liking to Dan and berates Chuck for giving him in.

Little Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen) is still trying to ditch school for fashion. With the help of Vanessa (Jessica Szhor), Lil J convinces dad Rufus (Matthew Settle) to trail her at work for a day. On bring-your-dad-to-work day, Rufus asks for backup from Eleanor Waldrof, who reminds Rufus that if he had half her talent he wouldn’t be a washed up rock star. Though Rufus gives in to the home schooling, we think it had more to do with seeing Lily Bass (Kelly Rutherford) in Jenny’s creation.

Just Asking: Wasn’t Serena’s Black Halo dress a little inappropriate (hello, cleavage!) for a dinner with the Dean of Yale?

We love: Blair’s portrayal of My Fair Lady in her dream, starring B as a pre-polished Audrey Hepburn and S as the refined version.

Best Line: In the middle of a cat fight on the front porch of the Dean’s house, Serena and Blair unleash the claws. While pulling hair and destroying couture, Serena mutters “I hate the stupid headbands.” Ha! — Andrea DeSimone

Tell us: Will B & S’s friendship last? Should Nate be mad at Chuck? Should Lil J stay in school?GIOVANNI RUFINO/THE CW (2)
