Bart Bass is officially dead, with a story on the front page of the New York Journal to confirm it. Surprisingly, Lily Bass (Kelly Rutherford) didn’t seem too ruffled. She actually looked cheery and in love — with Rufus Humphrey (Matthew Settle).
Before he died, Bass knew something was up. He might have not had a chance to confront Lily about her “secret,” but his son Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) sure did. Did Lily blame Bart’s death on Chuck? As if he doesn’t he have enough to deal with! Something tells us this isn’t the last we’ll see of Bart Bass, but in the meantime, Chuck will have to survive on his own. Hopefully, he’ll have Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) by his side — if he lets her in.
Quick question: Did you cry when Blair told Chuck she loved him? What about when the two fell asleep on Blair’s bed. Chuck, please come back. Blair will make it better!
Bart hasn’t been dead long and Lily Bass is already running off with Rufus, but not before her mother gets the final word. She might not have shelled out the money for what was in Bart’s envelope and Chuck might have burned it, but that doesn’t mean it will go away. Celia (Caroline Lagerfelt) pays Rufus a little visit before he heads out to meet Lily and let’s the secret out of the bag. So Lily, what was it, a boy or a girl? Or should we ask who is it? As long as Serena isn’t Rufus’s daughter…
Speaking of the star-crossed lovers, Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley) proved to be the shoulder that Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) chose to cry on in the wake of her stepfather’s death. More awkwardness followed between Dan and Serena’s new boyfriend Aaron at the funeral. To ensure that Serena got her mind and heart off of Dan, Aaron invited her to Buenos Aires for the holiday. Serena, of course can’t make her decision without talking to Dan first. And after another uncomfortably passive confrontation, Serena is en route to South America.
It wasn’t all tragic. Eleanor Waldorf — in a Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen) original — and Cyrus Rose tied the knot in a penthouse ceremony. It was sweet, even Blair cried.
Tell us: Should Rufus forgive Lily? Will Blair be able to save Chuck? Will Serena and Dan get back together? Is Bart really dad? Giovanni Rufino/The CW
