'Mr. Robot' Wins the 2016 Golden Globe for Best Television Series, Drama

Four-time host Ricky Gervais emceed the 73rd annual Golden Globes live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel on NBC

Mr. Robot

won the 2016 Golden Globe for best drama series.

“I have to thank Hollywood Foreign Press because they just gave the best drama series award to a show called Mr. Robot and that took a lot of courage so thank you,” show creator Sam Esmail said while accepting the award, which was presented by Olivia Wilde and John Krasinski.

“I have to thank Emmy [Rossum] for recommending Rami [Malek] to me, and more importantly I need to thank you for being my best friend in the world,” he said of his fiancée.

Mr. Robot

was up against Netflix series Narcos, Fox’s Empire, HBO’s Game of Thrones and Starz’ Outlander.

The 73rd annual Golden Globes, hosted by Ricky Gervais, are being presented live from Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, on NBC.
