Gold Rush Finale Sneak Peek: Can Parker Schnabel Keep His 300-Oz. Lead over Todd Hoffman?
The explosive Gold Rush finale airs Friday at 8 p.m. ET on Discovery
The King of the Klondike will soon be crowned!
In an exclusive sneak peek at Discovery’s Gold Rush‘s season finale, 21-year-old Parker Schnabel fights to keep his lead over Todd Hoffman, but the competition between the runs deeper than the dirt they are digging in.
“It’s more of a pride thing than anything else,” Schnabel tells PEOPLE. “We have very different styles. He has a big crew and spends a lot of money, and I push a smaller crew a lot harder.”
But their differences don’t stop there: “We also put in a lot more hours. It’s not like a basketball game where there is a winner at the end of the day except that we just both have a lot of pride in what we do and neither one of us wants to lose to each other.”
Going into the finale Schnabel has a comfortable 300-oz. lead.
“That is a good chunk of change,” he says. “There was about a six-week period where we ran 24/7. There was somebody always within 100 ft. of that wash plant, and there isn’t anybody else that can say that I don’t think.”
But no matter how much gold he finds, for Schnabel it’s just another day at work.
“At this point it’s like potatoes to a potato farmer,” he says. “It doesn’t get me too excited anymore.”
