She’s no stranger to sensationalized stories, yet Giuliana Rancic was still surprised by the flurry of reports that emerged after it was announced that she would be leaving E! News.

Speaking out about the rumors she was pushed off the show, Rancic tells PEOPLE, “It was 100 percent my decision to leave. I brought up the idea to leave three years ago, but E! News kept extending me because they wanted me to stay.” The TV personality, who will remain with the network as host of E!’s Live from the Red Carpet and co-host of Fashion Police, explains, “This has been three years in the making.”

The Giuliana & Bill star continues, “I took on a challenge 14 years ago. I was a young reporter, and E! News was my dream job. It’s been an incredible journey. But after 14 years, I have nothing else to accomplish on the show. I want to grow as a person, as a businesswoman, as a host, and in order for me to grow, I need to take on a new venture and new challenges.”

Admittedly, it’s been a rough year for Rancic, 40, who came under fire for edited comments she made on Fashion Police and witnessed the departure of both Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin from the beleaguered show. Still, Rancic, who is looking forward to returning as Fashion Police‘s co-host, is adamant that the shakeup “has nothing to do with” her departure from E! News. “I had this plan way before. And E! has been incredibly supportive and gracious.”

As far as widespread reports that Rancic is feuding with E! correspondent, Maria Menounos? “They’re absurd,” says Rancic. “I’ve never had a feud or drama with any of my E! News hosts or co-hosts, and there certainly isn’t one now. There is no feud. It takes two to feud, and I’m not feuding!”

Rancic, whose last day on E! News is Aug. 10, says she is not aware of any final decisions about her replacement but says, “Whoever is added to the show, I will be supportive of and happy for. I actually look forward to the announcement!”

For now, the author of the New York Times bestseller, Going off Script, who also has a successful clothing brand and line of wines, is excited about summer at home in Chicago with husband Bill and their son Duke, 3 next month. “I’ve worked day in and day out for 14 years. I’m looking forward to being able to stay in bed a little longer with Duke every morning and take him to school and on play dates!”

And despite all the noise about her exit, the cancer survivor is keeping it all in perspective: “There are so many wonderful things happening in my life right now,” says Rancic. “Number one, I’m healthy, and you can never lose sight of that. My husband is healthy, my child is healthy. That to me is everything. As long as we’re happy and healthy, no rumor or lie is going to get me down.”
