Milo Ventimiglia could not be happier to be back on the set of Gilmore Girls.

“That was always such a fun memory and a fun workplace, and a place as a younger actor you kind of get to grow,” the 38-year-old star tells PEOPLE Now. “And I’d always held being on that set so reverently and dear to my heart.”

Ventimiglia was immediately on board when he was asked to return for the show’s revival.

“I don’t care if I’m in the middle of the desert in Tunisia,” he says. “I will fly back and I will be a part of this.”

Ventimiglia – who is next starring in NBC’s This Is Us – will reprise his role as Jess for the Netflix revival and reconnect with Alexis Bledel, whose character Rory Gilmore had an on-and-off relationship with the soulful rebel.

As for how Rory’s love life plays out, Ventimiglia continues to keep mum: “I think people should kind of couch all their expectations and hide their wants and just let the stories unfold,” he says. “And from there they can write the angry letters or the love letters.”

“The fans are going to be excited, I’ve said this since the announcement,” he continued. “It’s classic Gilmore.”

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life premieres on Netflix later this year, and Ventimiglia costars with Mandy Moore in This Is Us this fall on NBC.
