Gilmore Girls: Where Are the Characters Now?
LORELAI & RORY GILMORE
Lorelai would have said "I do" to Luke, Lauren Graham told PEOPLE when asked about her character's future at Saturday's Gilmore Girls reunion panel at the ATX Television Festival in Austin, Texas, and the mother-daughter duo would have gone into business together. "I think they opened a bakery called Sweet Talking …" she began. "Sweet Talking … Goods," Alexis Bledel finished, laughing. As for Rory? "I think she's a journalist now and, I don't know, just living her life!" Bledel said. "Maybe she's still working on politics, maybe she's move on to something else."
"There's two scenarios actually: He's at the diner, waiting, nose to the grindstone, keeping the faith," Scott Patterson said, "or he sold the place, got a place on the lake. He's got a bait and tackle shop, he's selling camping equipment, he also has a diner, he's fly-fishing every day, he's communing with nature, he's waiting for Lorelai to show up and maybe get some fly-fishing lessons so they can rekindle their romance."
JACKSON BELLEVILLE & SOOKIE ST. JAMES
These two probably had more kids after all, but "I think Jackson would have figured out a way of burning down the inn, by accident of course," Jackson Douglas said. "Another [fire]. The second time."
LANE KIM & ZACK VAN GERBIG
Still married and still rocking. "I think that Lane and Mrs. Kim have tried to start up a daycare, but they're finding it very difficult to find clients because they keep arguing about the type of process that they want to raise children in," Keiko Agena said. Meanwhile, "Zack finally locked down a good job at U-Haul, and it's 40 hours a week, and it's a salary and there's benefits. I've got health insurance for the babies," Todd Lowe added. What are Steve and Kwan hiding under their floorboards? "Print-out copies of the Dead Sea Scrolls," Agena suggested, to which Lowe said, "I'd grind them all up because I didn't want my kids to have any secrets."
"I'm going to go back to the idea that Brian had a big tech start-up company, and I'm going to say that it failed miserably. So that was a big, big event," John Cabrera said. "Now he's back to teaching the twins music lessons twice a week. That's basically his sole income."
PARIS GELLER & DOYLE MCMASTER
"I think he's definitely married to Paris and I think he is a journalist still," Danny Strong said. "I think he's gone from a number of outlets, and he's probably at Politico now, and he's probably mad. That's all I'm saying. He's probably rubbed some people wrong." The other half of the power couple "probably cured cancer," Liza Weil said. "But I'll be low-key about it."
Supernatural star Jared Padalecki joked Dean "was hunting ghosts. I'm kidding. I think Dean probably did stick around Stars Hollow. I think one of the best qualities about Dean – and one of the worst qualities about Dean in certain situations – is that he really was just a simple guy. He just had simple dreams, simple thoughts, simple feelings. I think he and Rory served a good purpose for each other, but I don't think they were meant for each other. So I think we would probably stick around Stars Hollow, hopefully now he's like general manager at Doosey's … Dean's Market these days!"
The jury's out on whether Lindsay and Dean survived his infidelity with Rory. "Hopefully she's perfected her meatloaf, and she's cooking for a new man!" Arielle Kebbel said, allowing that if her character stayed with her husband, "some things would have to change."
"Maybe he decided to go backpack Europe or take a motorcycle trip across country. I don't know what Jess is up to. He's up to something," Milo Ventimiglia said. "I'm sure he's happy, I'm sure he's grumpy, I'm sure he's poking fun at people in the smartest way, that they don't even know he's doing that. I don't know. Maybe I am Jess!"
"He quit his job at the end of season 7, so definitely not following in the family tradition," Matt Czuchry said. "Not working at all and probably traveling the world."
The French concierge is in a relationship. "Someone asked me this morning if he was gay, and I said I don't know, I've never asked, and I think he could have been both," Yanic Truesdale said. "I think it was left up to the imagination, and I don't know. I'm open to both, how about that?"
"Marrying Ricky Martin," Liz Torres said of the eccentric dance teacher's biggest accomplishment. "He already has children, it would have been perfect."
RICHARD & EMILY GILMORE
"They were absolutely doing the same thing because they were so comfortable with that. They were going to the country club, they were having social engagements, they might have traveled to Europe a couple of times," Kelly Bishop said. "Enjoying their lives." But after Edward Herrman's tragic death from brain cancer, Emily would be mourning Richard in 2015. "It's a really tough time," Bishop said. "She's in a very bad place."
