Dancing with the Stars: Gavin DeGraw & Karina Smirnoff Eliminated
With just 19 points for their samba, the pair had Latin Night's lowest score
Just as Dancing with the Stars‘s competition was starting to look up last week for Karina Smirnoff and partner Gavin DeGraw, they once again sunk to the bottom of the leaderboard after Monday night’s 19-point samba.
They’ve been saved in prior weeks after low scores, but will fans’ votes once again be enough to keep the pair on the show? The second lowest scores of the night went to Maksim Chmerkovskiy and his recovering partner Melissa Gilbert, who earned 21 points for their samba. Gladys Knight and Tristan MacManus were one point above them with a score of 22 for their samba.
On Tuesday, the bottom two were revealed – and then performed a dance duel for the judges, who ultimately decided who would stay and who would go. Keep reading to find out all the results from the show …
Melissa and Maksim and Gladys and Tristan were among the first to be declared safe.
In the end, Gavin and Karina were in the bottom two and faced off in the dance duel against Jaleel White and Kym Johnson.
The judges made their decision based purely on the quality of the performances, host Tom Bergeron said, as both couples performed a cha cha side by side.
Their decision was unanimous: the judges saved Jaleel and Kym.
“It’s amazing just being part of the show,” an upbeat Gavin said when asked about the best part of his experience. “Knowing Karina Smirnoff, of course, having a great mentor. And getting to reach out and know all these amazing people who are a part of this show.”
Jaleel and Kym, along with the other remaining couples, will be back next week for Dancing‘s Motown-themed night.
