Winter is coming. A Game of Thrones movie? Not so much.

A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin has denied that a film is underway in addition to the HBO series, now shooting its sixth season.

Martin debunked the rumor on his LiveJournal page Wednesday, telling a commenter the report – based on his alleged quotes to the U.K. Daily Star – is “completely false.”

“No one is working on any movie just now,” wrote Martin, 67. “And if there was a movie, it would not be about Robert’s Rebellion.”

Michael Lombardo, president of HBO programming, told Entertainment Weekly in March that the network isn’t necessarily keen on a big-screen adaptation.

“Certainly there have been conversations where it’s been said, ‘Wouldn’t it be cool to do that?’ ” Lombardo said. “But when you start a series with our subscribers, the promise is that for your HBO fee that we’re going to take you to the end of this. I feel that on some level [a movie would be] changing the rules: Now you have to pay $16 to see how your show ends.”
