Could this news be any more depressing?

Matthew Perry won’t attend NBC’s long-awaited Friends reunion, Entertainment Weekly confirms.

Sources tell EW that the actor will still be in London rehearsing for his upcoming play The End of Longing when Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer shoot the two-hour special honoring director James Burrows on Jan. 24.

There’s still a chance Perry, 46, will be involved though – here’s hoping he Skypes in to finally explain what exactly it is that Chandler Bing does for a living.

The network announced the reunion Wednesday, and president Bob Greenblatt promised each star would pop in, if not all at once.

“I’m hoping all six will be in same room at same time,” he told reporters at a Television Critics Association panel Wednesday. “I’m not sure we can logistically pull it off.”

The special airs Feb. 21 on NBC.
