The former Saturday Night Live actor will serve as band leader on the talk show hosted by Seth Meyers

Fred Armisen will join Seth Meyers‘s inaugural season of Late Night as the show’s band leader.

Armisen, 47, is a musician as well as an actor, and will perform with 8G Band on the NBC talk show Meyers has taken over from Jimmy Fallon.

“Fred will curate and lead the band, and continue to run it even when he’s off shooting Portlandia,” Meyers Tweeted Monday.

Prior to Saturday Night Live, Armison was a drummer with the punk rock band Trenchmouth. He also performed with The Blue Man Group in the mid 90s, the The Hollywood Reporter says.

Fallon’s band, The Roots, will move with him to The Tonight Show.
